This overall is a lovely and charming example of a genuine antique 19th century Victorian period Mirror back, Marble top Walnut Credenza of medium size and very good proportions.

The solid Walnut show timber mirror frame is arched and houses the original thick silvered glass mirror plate and the frame is extensively embellished with a substantial pierced crest carving of well carved Oak leaves twigs and Acorns. This theme flow down the mirror frame in a vine like manner and terminate at both ends of the mirror frame in boldly carved Oak leaves and more Acorns. The marble top is of lovely serpentine shape in the French Louis style and has a decorative edge molding. The lower storage cabinet frieze and base sections are serpentine shaped so as to compliment the shape of the marble top. There is a centre door and a pair of angled side doors with each having an original mirrored plate and a raised perimeter molding with the top molding also embellished with carvings of Oak leaves and Acorns. Between the doors and at either side are full height half rounded engaged pilasters and the whole base section is finished in nicely figured Walnut of honey colour and retains the original French polished finish. This Credenza also has retained its original flattened bun feet which are usually missing.

Condition: Overall very good for age however due to its age which is approximately 165 years old would greatly benefit from a professional general detail and refurbishment ( especially around the base ) which we can organise to be professionally done at a trade price. This piece features the original mirror plates which now show the character of age however if a ‘cleaner’ look is required the mirrors may be replaced at a trade price. The Credenza is complete with an old key for each door.
