This is an excellent quality genuine antique English George III Chest of Drawers from the last quarter of the 1700s. Please note the short squared tapered legs of that time.
The Chest is made from prestigious imported Central American Mahogany which is very well figured and of good colour and it still retains its original hand French polished finish. now with nice patina. The Chest is of the elegant and desirable Bow Fronted shape and comprises of three full width graduated drawers which are Oak lined, have perimeter cock bead molding, their original brass locks, brass keyhole escutcheons and original oval brass drawer pull handles and back plates. The top edge and the base both are embellished with parallel Satinwood / Fruitwood line inlays with a broard Ebony line inlay between. The short squared and tapered legs ( in the later 1700s Sheraton and Hepplewhite manner ) are also line inlaid.
Condition: Excellent for age.

Price: This is a consigned item and our vendors paid over $4,000 for it about 40 years ago in the 1980s from a leading specialist Georgian dealer in Queen Street Woollahra. However now available for $2,750.
