This is a very superior and extremely fine example of a high quality genuine antique English 19th century Victorian period two section ( high ranking officers ) Military Campaign Chest with a great feature of an extremely well fitted full width pull out Secretare Desk drawer which has an adjustable original gold tooled inset leather writing surface which may also be used as an angled reading lectern. Another very superior touch is the elaborate fold up stationary holder.

All drawers have quality Ash linings and are complete with original all brass locks and key hole escutcheons. The Secretare drawer for added security is fitted not with an ordinary lock but with a Bramah lock. Bramah locks were invented in 1784 and are recognised as the first known ‘high security’ design and were famous for their resistance to lock picking.

Condition: Excellent original commensurate with age and use.
