This is a beautiful piece of Country Furniture.

It is a genuine antique English mid 17th century George II / George III solid Walnut cased Chest on Stand.

The top Chest section has a shaped cornice above a bull nosed full width ‘secret’ drawer with a pair of side by side drawers. Beneath are three full width stacked drawers of slightly graduating depth. The side of the Chest section is a frame with a recessed panel.

The lower Stand section has a pull out ‘brushing Slide’, above a deep full width drawer and a shaped apron with a carved central stylised carved Shell. The whole is supported on four Cabriole shaped legs terminating in Pad feet and the knees also feature raised carved Shells.

Naturally a piece of approximately 275 years of age has had a life and some periodic maintenance due to its considerable age and use. In this case the legs may have been replaced and the brass drawer pulls are not original however are of an appropriate type for the period.

Condition: Excellent commensurate with age and use. Beautiful deep honey colour and an excellent patina.
