Antique French early 1900s solid Oak Louis XVI style Bureau Plat / Writing Table / Desk.
This is a very good quality well proportioned and genuine antique French earlier 1900s Solid French Oak Writing Desk in the elegant and popular classic Louis XVI revival manner.
The desk is of rectangular shape, is well proportioned and is nicely detailed including the attractive top edge molding, the vertical corner fluted panels, the elegant turned, tapered and fluted legs, drawers and side panels and of course the quality brass drawer pull handles fitted to the front drawers and the rear faux drawers.
A wonderful feature of this Desk is that it is ‘double sided’ in that the front side with its real drawers is duplicated on the rear / back side with faux drawers so as to appear finished all round and as such it does not have to be placed against a wall as it may easily free stand in the middle of a room if required. An additional little feature is that it is stamped by the maker 'Herve' beneath the desk.
The desk features a new best quality ( one piece ) black leather inset writing surface with quality gold decorative tooling.
Condition: Excellent for age with a new gold tooled high quality leather writing surface.
Size: Width 120cm x Depth 76cm x Height 76cm.
Price: Was $4,750 now reduced to $3,495. which includes the new gold tooled leather writing surface.
Included in the thumbnail images are three overseas examples painted black and we too can have this desk professionally Ebonised if required. What is of real interest is the prices that this type of desk sell for in overseas markets which makes this desk by International pricing comparisons very inexpensive.
