Antique English George IV Rosewood Davenport Desk.

This is a lovely quality example of an early 1800s genuine antique English Georgian Davenport Desk in the manner of the famous maker Gillows of Lancaster and is made from the best quality Mahogany and finished in imported prestigious Central American Rosewood.

When being used the writing section slides forward on brass tracks so as to provide space for ones knees. The sliding top section has a three sided pierced brass gallery and a recent gold tooled inset brown leather writing surface. When the hinged lid is lifted it reveals a storage compartment and a bank of four drawers two of which are faux it also has a pop out and hinged compartment for ink bottles and writing implements.

Both sides have practical pull out slides and one side has a vertical bank of four full width graduated drawers each with beaded edge moldings a well turned pair of Ebony drawer pull knobs and original locks. have in each corned a carved The front side and back cabinet panels each have carved applied Acanthus leaf carvings.

All supported on four turned and carved bun feet complete with original brass castor assemblies.

Condition: Excellent near original.
