Antique English 18th century George III period Oak Drop Front Bureau / Book Case

This is a very impressive piece of furniture and for a country piece is of very high quality. The upper storage / book case has engaged corner columns with brass top and bottom plus a pair of doors with brass ‘H’ shaped hinges and shaped fielded panels which when opened reveal a most interesting well fitted interior with shaped dividers and a couple of small ‘candle’ storage drawers.

The bottom section is that of a Drop Front Bureau with a very well fitted shaped interior with secret drawers and a baize lined writing surface. Below are three full width drawers with quality brass drawer pulls and keyhole escutcheons The whole is supported on straight Bracket Feet.

Due to its age it has had minor conservation and has been generally refurbished.

Provenance: By repute previously owned by billionaire Robert Homes a’ Court of the Bell Resources Group and his wife Janet.

Condition: Excellent - having had professional refurbishment in the 1990s.

Size: Width 120cm x Depth 56cm x Height 210cm.

Price: Originally consigned in at $8,750 however now reduced by the vendor down to $6,795 which is a massive $2,000 discount.

Sellers Observation: A piece for the connoissseur of 18th century Georgian country Oak Furniture. To have had a piece like this you probably had to be the wealthy Lord of the local Manor.
