This is a very superior quality example of a genuine antique English William IV period ( 1830 - 1837 ) Bookcase with a cylinder top pull out Secretaire writing / reading Desk which has a well fitted interior of pigeon holes and drawers. The writing section has three original inset gold tooled leather insets with the centre one hinged and adjustable so it may be used as a writing slope or a reading lectern.
The upper two door glazed Display Cabinet is for books and collectables and has an adjustable full width shelf while the lower Storage Cabinet has ‘blind’ panelled doors and has a full width shelf within.
The Book Case is finished in selected prestigious imported Brazilian Rosewood prized for its colouring and excellent figuring.
Either side of the upper cabinet doors are engaged pilasters while the lower cabinet has full height free standing turned columns with the same detail as the upper cabinet. All door panels have a decorative quarter turned beaded perimeter molding.
Condition: Excellent and desirably original commensurate with age and use.
