Antique Scottish William IV Mahogany Secretaire Bookcase, second quarter of the 19th Century
This is a genuine and very superior quality example of an antique Scottish two height Book Case with a pull out Secretaire Desk The compact top Display Cabinet is open with an adjustable full width shelf. The lower two door Storage Cabinet has a full width shelf and a canter levering frieze section which houses a full width very well fitted pull out Secretaire Desk.
Both the canter levering top cornice and lower frieze are supported by full height turned free standing corner columns each embellished with very well carved and detailed decorative Tulip, Thistle and Lotus motifs.
The Secretaire Drawer front has a raised panel molding with carved French Rococo style corner detailing and also feature faceted drawer pull knobs. When pulled out and folded down it reveals a very well fitted interior with banks of drawers and a gold tooled red leather writing surface.
The whole is of excellent colour and condition and desirably has its original hand French polished finish.
