Antique English Victorian leather bound Jewellery Box.
This is a very good, genuine, antique English, later Victorian last quarter of the 19th. century Jewellery Box.
Rectangular in form with a curved lid which has a gilt recessed ‘campaign’ style flush fitting handle. The box has a London made Bramah lock with its typical projecting, circular brass key hole escutcheon. The whole is covered in black leather and embellished with two lines of decorative gold tooling
inside there are two very well fitted full size lift out stacked trays and the lined lined interior is of black leather with original green velvet to the base and inner lid as well as on the trays. The lid pivots on gilt hinges which are of the highest quality.
It is worthy of note that this quality jewellery box has a Bramah lock which was invented by Joseph Bramah in 1784 and was considered ‘unpickable’. They are still very highly regarded.
Condition: Very good condition commensurate with age and use.
