This is a lovely quality genuine antique French 1880s lidded Jewellery Box. The box is rectangular in form with cantered corners to the lid, case and base which has short corner bracket feet.

The surfaces are veneered with parquetry in geometric shapes which feature bandings of Amboyna with Kingwood cross bandings plus fine brass line inlays. The lid features a central ivory Cartouche inlaid into a shaped Amboyna panel which is within an octagonal Ebony panel withfoliate Brass inlays which is in a rectangular octagonal Amboyna panel with fine line inlays. There are compass point abstract Ebony inlays and corner positioned abstract geometric Mother of Pearl inlays. The front of the box has complimentary inlays.

Condition: Excellent with working lock and key.
