Antique English 19th century profusely inlaid Box with a fitted interior.....SOLD.
This is a very impressive boxand is of rectangular form with a hinged lid.
The lid is connected by substantial brass hinges and the lid has a beveled edge with multiple inlaid panels in a banding form. In the centre rectangular panel is a complex star with receeding star formations behind. there are also corner sun burst inlays in the Georgian manner. All sides have rectangular various sample wood panelling and the front panel is further embellished with inlays giving the illusion of dimensional cubes The whole is supported on small corner positioned flattened bun feet.
The Mahogany interior is fully french polished and has a fitted lift out tray with some compartments lidded. The box may be used with or without the tray if not required. When opened the underneath side of the lid reveals a complex inlaid panel with multiple outer rectangular bandings and a serpentine shaped centre book leaf matched Walnut panel featuring a Bow in Satinwood.
Condition: The external polish has fine crazing and would benefit from a professional detail and general refurbishment The interior polished surfaces are excellent. As for the lift out tray with all its compartments well that is up to you depending on how you wish to use the box. The lock is missing as is the key hole escutcheon, and we can have them replaced alomng with a key made.
