This is a very good example of a genuine antique French 18th century Walnut show timber framed Fauteuil.

The timber show frame iscrafted from solidquality native French Walnut and has well shaped arms with scrolled hand grips and cabriole shaped and carved embellished arm supports. The front legs are impressively cabriole shaped with the knees decorated with proud standing carved folage and with carved “C’ shaped scrolls on either side. The cabriole legs taper and flow into round pad feet. The rear legs are more vertical and are of squares forn with some decorative profiling. All the legs are connected by a shaped and serpentined ‘H’ shaped stretcher formation.

The high shaped back and the seat are very nicely upholstered in a later replacement tapestry which has a studded finish to the seat.

Condition: Frame is ‘rock’ solid and upholstery perfect. The chair frame shows character commensurate with age and use.
