This is a very fine quality and superior high end example of a genuine antique mid 1800s genuine antique English Victorian period ‘Hi Low’ Chaise Lounge / Settee.

The attractive ‘show timber‘ frame has been superbly crafted and carved embellished from selected exotic prestigious imported Central American Rosewood which due to its high cost was generally only used in the making of superior quality pieces.

The Chaise is made in the popular French King Louis XV Rococo manner which can be seen in the pleasing curved and serpentine form plus the cabriole legs and scrolled hand grip etc. The ‘high low’ refers to the fact that the settee is not symmetrical like most lounges or settees and has a ‘high end’ and in this case an open ‘low end’.

Condition: The frame and polish are excellent. The upholstery springs webbing and stitched rolled edges are also excellent. The fabric cover is very good and may be easily recovered to taste.
