Antique French last quarter of the 19th century ( later 1800s ) Bronze Marble and Slate Mantle Clock....SOLD

A$3,850.00

This is a superior quality example of this type of clock. The movement is housed in a slate ‘barrel’.

The well shaped base comprises of layers of a green and white Marble between Belgium black Slate above are apposed ‘S’ shaped scrolls which support the central barrel head.

The whole is surmounted by a beautifully cast and highly detailed Bronze with the subject matter comprising of acentral ‘bird of prey’ attacking a snake. falling away on either side following the shape of the ‘S’ shaped opposed scrolls are a cascading vine with profuse flowers and leaves.

The whole stands on eight well cast and detailed Bronze flattened bun feet.

To be sold in working condition and complete with a key and pendulum.

Condition: Excellent for age and use.
