This is a very desirable and fine quality genuine antique first quarter of the 19th century Georgian period Scottish Longcase Clock of elegant proportions in Mahogany by recognised Maker Jas ( James ) Allen of Kilmarnock, Scotland circa 1820.
The movement is a convenient eight day movement which strikes the bell on the hour and half hour.
The arched dial has a round painted dial with Roman numerals and has a subsiduary second hand dial. It is surrounded buy painted corner spandrels and has a scene above of a rural manner house with Swans in the foreground.
The case has a rectangular flat top hood which is very well embellished with an upper dentil freeze and blind fretwork carving around the arched section of the door frame. The hood also has unusual spiralled rope twist free standing pillasters with gilt Corinthian capitols and bases plus Gothic arched fretwork side panels. The rectangular vertical trunk has a rectangular door and sits on a squared box base. Both the trunk and base are line inlaid and the trunk has engaged quarter rope twist columns with gilt mounts so as to compliment the hood.
Condition: excellent near original and complete with pendulum weights and winder.
