Six of the finest. These chairs represent a very superior set of 6 Antique English early Victorian circa 1845 Dining Chairs of the highest quality. The 'show timber' chair frames have been crafted from the finest quality prestigious imported Central American Mahogany. These chairs show the fashion transition from the earlier 'rail backs' to the 'balloon backs' and show a distinct French influence both in the style of the chairs and the carved decorative embellishments. The seat rails are curved on the sides and of serpentine form at the front and all seat rails are well profiled. The top rail is embellished with boldly carved raised foliate motifs to both shoulders and the serpentine shaped waist rail has a bold central carved feature embellishment. The highly profiled front legs are boldly turned and tapered plus feature well carved Tulips at the top.

Condition: These chair frames are structurally sound and desirably retain their original polish and now exude an excellent patina. The seats are webbed and padded and would benefit from
