Antique English Victorian Set of Twelve Mahogany Dining Chairs.

A$4,750.00

These are a very hard to find long set of ten ( 12 ) genuine antique English 19th century Victorian period Dining chairs.

The ‘show timber’ frames were crafted by specialist chair makers from solid prestigious Mahogany imported from the Central Americas.

These chairs are full sized dining chairs and the generous size allows for additional comfort. The chair backs are shaped and are very supportive with a slight French Louis XV influence with their arched and curved top rails and their shaped and waisted rear uprights which some people refer to this shape back as a ‘spoon’ back. Also the seat side rails are of slight serpentine form while the front seat rail is gently curved. The webbed and padded seats are also of a generous size creating additional comfort on those sometimes long and enjoyable dining sessions.

The front legs are well turned and nicely tapered in an inverted baluster shape with ring turnings while the rear legs are of sabre form.

Condition: The frames are rock solid. The upholstery ( webbing and padding ) is also in excellent condition as is the pink watermark fabric cover. This fabric is no longer being produced in England as the factory closed. The hand applied French polish will wax polish up very well.

Size: Width 48cm x Seat Depth 45cm x Height 87cm.

Price: $395 each. To be sold as a set of twelve so $4,740 the set.

Sellers observation: Very hard to find long set of 12 chairs - full sized comfortable seats - over all excellent condition - genuine antique chairs less expensive than equivalent reproductions.
