A very superior quality set of six genuine antique English George IV Mahogany Dining Chairs attributed to Gillows of Lancashire who were one of the great 19th century makers. The chairs are of a recognised Gillows design and the attention to detail is superb. The chairs have been made by a 'master craftsman' and to the highest professional standards from selected prestigious imported Central American Mahogany. The back is well shaped and elegantly waisted with a foliate carved embellished serpentine shaped top rail and a complimentary shaped and decoratively carved waist rail. The seat rails are straight and vertical with typical Gillows recessed panels as are the front corners. The front legs are well turned and tapered with nicely profiled turnings and boldly reeded mid sections. The seats are caned and there is provision to fit timber framed and upholstered drop on seats or one could have an upholsterer make tie on cushions..

Condition: Excellent desirable original condition commensurate with age and use .
