This is a hard to find, extremely fine quality example of a genuine antique, French 19th century, circa 1860s ‘COMBINATION TABLE’ beautifully hand crafted from solid cuts of French Walnut and features a top section finished in feature honey coloured highly figured Walnut. The shallow frieze is well shaped and has corner positioned and well profiled inverted finials.

The piece converts from a SIDE TABLE or OCCASIONAL TABLE into an adjustable angled READING LECTERN and if the serpentined Ormolu mounted top with its feature center glass covered embroidery panel is removed a Chess Board is revealed so the table becomes a CHESS and DRAUGHTS TABLE.

The whole stands upon four barley twist cluster columns and is supported on well carved and shaped quadruped cabriole legs each with under scrolled toes.

Condition: The table is complete and is in excellent as is condition for its age.
