Antique English mid Victorian period 1850s Walunt with parquetry Etagere / Whatnot Stand / Display Stand.
This is another excellent example of a fine quality genuine mid 19th century upright rectangular three tier Display Stand also referred to as a What Not Stand or an Etagere of upright rectangular form.
The whole is constructed from quality imported Central American Mahogany and then particially embellished with feature Rosewood and Satinwood parquetry.
The shelves are separated by elegant well turned corner columns and terminate as the top with urn shaped finials and at the bottom with short decoratively turned and tapered legs with their original all brass bucket castor assemblies beneath.
The top shelf has a shaped three sided timber gallery which is finished in Satinwood and Rosewood parquetry creating patterns of birds flowers and leaves plus French ‘C’ and ‘S’ shaped scrolls etc. The middle tier shelf full width drawer front is also finished in Satinwood and Rosewood parquetry so as to compliment the top shelf gallery.
