Antique English Early Victorian circa 1845 Mahogany Chiffonier / Sideboard.
This is an exceptionally fine example of a superior quality genuine antique English early Victorian period circa 1845 Chiffonier or small Side Board beautifully crafted using prestigious imported Central American Mahogany of superb figuring and of lovely mellow colour. The top is embellished by an impressive full width crest carving .The back board has a rectangular original pier glass panel with a cross banded border and a gallery shelf supported on end positioned superbly carved 'S' shaped scrolled brackets. The frieze section features a pair of .side by side 'bull nosed' fronted drawers. The lower storage cabinet has a full width shelf and the pair of doors are recess panelled with ogee shaping at the top. Either side of the doors are full height engaged pillasters with 'S' shaped carved reeded corbels at the top and inverted complimentary corbels at the bottom. As a sign of superior quality the corbels are carved on the sides as well as the fronts. The whole is supported on a protruding plynth base with a molded top
All the carved decorative embellishments are of first class standard and the crest carving corbels and top shelf support brackets are all of high quality and are in the desirable French Louis XV Rococo manner. plus the mirror plate is desirably original.
Condition: Excellent original for age and will go out fully detailed.
