A very good example of a genuine antique English later Georgian to early William IV well proportioned Mahogany twin pedestal Side Board.
The beautifully shaped and very well carved back Board has a combination of the French ‘S’ shaped scrolls combined with Egyptian influences which was popular as young men from wealthy families were sent to the ancient world to do the ‘Grand Tour’ so as to round of their education and they came back to England with an appreciable for all things Roman, Greek, Mycenaean and Egyptian. The frieze has recessed panelled drawers as the pedestals have recessed panelled doors. The canter levering frieze is supported above the pedestals by carved scrolled corbels.
Condition: Excellent condition.
