Antique English Georgian ( early 1800s ) Mahogany Pembroke Table.
This is an exceptionally good example of a genuine antique English George III early 1800s Pembroke Table with drop sides. This superior quality example is made by craftsmen from the finest most dense and heavy Cuban Mahogany from the Central American island of Cuba. The bold figuring is excellent and the colour is a nut brown.
Each section of the top comprises of a single wide board with triple reeded edge molding and the two drop leaves if raised are supported by twin swivel bracket supports under each leaf. The table is very versatile and may be used with none, one or both leaves raised.
The frieze has a drawer at one end and a faux drawer at the other end. Both have cock bead molding, a bone keyhole escutcheon and pairs of brass drawer pull handles. The true drawer is complete with its lock. Either side are decorative rectangular reeded panels.
The whole is supported on four elegant turned and tapered legs which feature pairs of ring turnings and terminate in all brass castor assemblies. The legs also have the stylised appearance of Bamboo.
Condition: This table is in excellent original condition and only requires a good wax polish which we will provide.
