This is a fine quality, genuine and high end Antique, English Early Victorian circa !845 Mahogany swivel and fold over top baize lined Card Table of rectangular form with a well turned centre column and four scrolled and well carved out flowing legs with original brass castors beneath. All in the French Louis XVI influence.
The rectangular internally baize lined swivel and fold over top swivels and rests on the rectangular frieze storage section. The vertical frieze front is flat with a serpentine lower edge which has applied quality raised carved ‘C’ and ‘S’ scrolled moldings in the French Louis XV manner. The frieze section also has a storage area for cards and other games.
The solid Mahogany centre column is boldly turned and terminates in a small lower vertical cylinder from which the four carved embellished (knees and feet) ‘Cabriole’ legs flow down to carved and scrolled feet. The table is complete with its original all brass castor assembly beneath the scrolled feet.
Provenance: It is stamped internally by the highly regarded cabinet maker JAMES WINTER of 101 Wardour Street, London. The prestigious nicely coloured and well figured solid Mahogany that it is made with was imported from the Central Americas.
Condition: This fine piece is in desirably, virtually original condition.
