Antique English George III period Mahogany Tri-sectional Dining Table SOLD
This is a very fine example of an extension dining table from the very early 1800s It is constructed from selected wide board of Cuban Mahogany which is very dense and heavy and regarded as the finest Mahogany. The colour is rich and the figuring is excellent. The table is rectangular in form with rounded corners to the end sections. As a tri sectional table it is in three sections which push up against each other and are held in position by āuā shaped brass table forks. The centre section may be used independently as a large Pembroke table to seat eight people when the drop leaves are raised and the gate legs are moved into position so as to support the leaves. The two end sections may also be used independently as side tables or together as a six seater table. When the side tables are positioned at both ends the table becomes a twelve seater dining table. The table is supported on nicely turned, slender, well profiled elegant legs which feature ring turnings and terminate in brass bucket castors with all brass fork and wheels beneath.
Condition: Excellent for age with desirable now well patinated original finish.
